Expectations - the invisible guide
Expectations are like invisible signposts in our daily lives. They guide and shape us. We set them in relationships, at work and even in our dealings with ourselves. They are often the basis for our decisions and actions.
Expectations play a decisive role in interpersonal relationships. In friendships we hope for understanding, in love for affection. At work, we expect recognition for our achievements and the opportunity for further development. But expectations can also be stumbling blocks if they remain unrealistic or unspoken.
Self-reflection helps us to understand and adjust our own expectations. Open communication is the key to avoiding misunderstandings. Sometimes, however, it is the unexpected twists and turns that enrich our lives. Flexibility in dealing with expectations enables us to discover the richness of the unknown and to walk life’s path with more ease. Expect the unexpected and be excited about it!
