Who is Frauke von Polier?
After completing her MBA at the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, she began her career at Bertelsmann – in the middle of the first internet bubble. There she learnt early on how technology and customer centricity promote growth. She later moved to the Otto Group and accompanied the transformation from catalogue business to online retail. Her line manager at the time recognised her talent for IT recruiting, and so she set up Germany’s first active sourcing team.
In 2011, she moved to Zalando, which only had 250 employees at the time. As Chief People Officer, she shaped the transformation from a start-up to a listed company with 14,000 employees. She shaped the European HR world with innovative concepts for employee retention and skills development.
Zalando was followed by SAP SE, Germany’s leading software company. As Chief Operating Officer People, she was responsible for the people strategy and areas such as people tech, people analytics, HR processes and communication. This experience deepened her expertise in the digital transformation of HR processes.
Transformation at Viessmann and ‘CHRO of the Year’ award
She has been Chief People Officer at Viessmann since 2021. In this family-owned company, she is supporting the transformation from an industrial company to a provider of energy solutions. She also supported the sale of the core ‘heat pumps’ business to an American company for 13 billion euros and the realignment of Viessmann as a diversified portfolio company.
In November 2022, Frauke von Polier was named ‘CHRO of the Year’ by HR magazine.
