The son of a primary school teacher and a musician, Fredrik Haren grew up in a family where knowledge, curiosity and a flair for performing on stages for the benefit of others were valued. From an early age, he was fascinated by creativity and ideas. He invented new games with his brothers, rewrote rules and played them again.
In 1993, while studying at a university in the US, he was first exposed to the internet and immediately realised that it would change the world as we knew it. In 1995 he wrote his university thesis on “Internet and Marketing” and turned it into a book in the same year, which was one of the first books on the subject in Sweden. He started working in an internet company, got shares and helped to build it up profitably from 1 to 60 employees in less than 5 years without any external investors. In December 1999, it was sold to a publicly traded company. Fredrik Haren decided to dedicate his life to the study of human creativity.
Fredrik Haren – The Creativity Explorer
Over the years he has interviewed thousands of people. The contents of these interviews have been incorporated into his books, articles and more than 2000 speeches. His most important theme is “humanity through the power of ideas”. This means that he believes in the potential of humanity and in the infinite power of human creativity. It is his concern to help as many people as possible to discover their full creative potential. And he believes that the world would be a much better place if more people were given the chance to be more creative – and if they learned to pick up the best ideas that arise in the world.
