Markus Pfuhl is Chief Representative Viessmann Group, Managing Director Viessmann Foundation & Expert in Digital Transformation, AI and Future-Proof Business Development
Markus Pfuhl is a shaper at the intersections of strategy, corporate culture and digital transformation. Born in 1973, he has combined analytical precision with visionary creativity for more than two decades. Holding a doctorate in business mathematics with a focus on artificial intelligence, he turned early to the question of how technological innovation can be translated into practical value creation.
Since 2003, Markus Pfuhl has held various positions within the Viessmann Group, where he has played a key role in shaping corporate development for over twenty years. From 2011 to 2017, he headed Corporate Development, overseeing numerous international M&A transactions as well as major strategic initiatives. In 2017, he was appointed Chief Digital Officer of the Viessmann Group, driving the company’s digital transformation. For many years he was responsible for the “Maschinenraum” innovation platform and the Group’s venture activities. Since late 2020, he has served as Chief Representative of the Group and, as Managing Director of the Viessmann Foundation, is responsible for its philanthropic activities. In addition, he is a member of various supervisory and advisory boards, including Weber GmbH & Co. KG and Lehman & Voss & Co. KG.
Alongside his management responsibilities, Pfuhl is deeply rooted in academia and society. Since 2019, he has been an honorary professor at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen, where he teaches courses on corporate strategy, digital transformation and future skills. He also contributes to economic and socio-political bodies, such as serving on the corporate advisory board of Hessen Trade & Invest and on the presidium of the Kassel-Marburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, where he brings his expertise in sustainable regional and innovation development.
In numerous publications and keynotes, he has shared his insights, most recently on artificial intelligence, innovation ecosystems and cultural change in transformation processes. His credo: future viability emerges when technology, corporate culture and strategic foresight are closely interlinked.
Outside his professional life, Markus Pfuhl is passionate about music, playing the trumpet in a brass sextet, and enjoys sports such as tennis and skiing. This balance of analytical thinking, entrepreneurial drive and cultural passion characterises him as a personality who builds bridges across disciplines, institutions and generations.
