Rüdiger von Fritsch is one of the most sought-after experts on Russia, the current war in Ukraine and its consequences for Europe. As a precise expert on the internal Russian situation, he provides valuable insights into the thinking of the Moscow leadership. He deals with fundamental questions of world politics. Therefore, he precisely analyses current international developments and points out the major political and economic interrelationships.
He was German Ambassador to Moscow from 2014 to 2019, and before that German Ambassador to Warsaw for four years. Since 2020, he has been a partner of the consulting agency “Berlin Global Advisors”.

Rüdiger von Fritsch studied History and German Studies in Erlangen and Bonn (scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation). From 1984 he worked in the Foreign Service, with initial postings in Warsaw and Nairobi as well as at the German EU representation in Brussels. 1999 to 2004, he headed the planning staff of the Federal President. From 2004 to 2007, von Fritsch was Vice President of the Federal Intelligence Service (BND). From 2007 to 2010, he headed the Economic Department of the Federal Foreign Office and was the German Sherpa’s representative at the G8 negotiations.
