Telekom’s Digital X in Cologne – „Navigate What's Next"

Telekom’s Digital X has once again this year demonstrated what the motto “Navigate What’s Next” is really all about: artificial intelligence, the cloud, security and connected infrastructures – and the very real benefits these bring to businesses and the economy.
With LEADING MINDS, we were right at the heart of the action alongside our experts: several speakers played a key role in shaping the specialist discussions at Digital X with their topical subjects and specialist expertise. An overview:
- Miriam Meckel – Freedom in the Age of AI
The conversation with Angela Merkel went far beyond technology: what happens to freedom and self-determination when AI increasingly influences the way we think, make decisions and work? Who controls the systems – and how do we prevent new dependencies and power monopolies? A debate on AI that we urgently need to have at a societal level too.
- Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg – Europe’s place in a new world order
His message: Europe has become complacent about its dependencies for far too long – in security, energy, raw materials and digitalisation. What is needed now is greater self-confidence, technological sovereignty and, above all, more courage. For Europe possesses enormous economic and technological strength. We simply need to finally recognise and harness it ourselves once again.
- Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann – Security is becoming a leadership challenge
Cyberattacks, disinformation, geopolitical conflicts and AI are converging to create a new threat landscape. Her key message: cybersecurity must move out of the IT niche and onto the agenda of leadership and management. For without a resilient digital infrastructure, there can be neither economic nor political sovereignty.
- Lara Sophie Bothur – Technology needs to be made accessible
AI, innovation and digitalisation are transforming businesses at an extraordinary pace. Lara Sophie Bothur represents a generation that does not discuss technology in abstract terms, but conveys it in a way that is understandable, accessible and via new channels of communication. After all, transformation only works if people understand what new technologies actually mean for their day-to-day working lives.
And right at the heart of it all was Franca Lehfeldt, who, as a moderator, brought together complex discussions spanning technology, business and politics and provided the right framework for them.
For us at LEADING MINDS, this is precisely the exciting insight from DIGITAL X:
“The future needs technology. But it needs people just as much – people who can contextualise developments, draw connections, allow for contradiction – and provide guidance.”
It is precisely these minds that we want to bring onto the stage.
