AGI - Artificial General Intelligence: The Future of Intelligence?
AGI – Artificial General Intelligence: The Future of Intelligence?
Artificial intelligence (AI) has long been part of our everyday lives. Whether voice assistants, chatbots, or personalized recommendations – all of these are based on so-called narrow AI, i.e., specialized AI. But laboratories around the world are already working on the next big step: AGI, or artificial general intelligence.
But what exactly is AGI?
Unlike today’s AI, which is optimized for very specific tasks, AGI refers to a form of AI that has human-like cognitive abilities. An AGI could flexibly solve problems, learn, plan, be creative, and adapt to new situations – without having been specifically trained to do so. It would be able to perform tasks from completely different areas, just like a human being.
The potential applications are enormous: in medicine, AGI could revolutionize diagnoses; in research, it could solve complex problems more quickly; and in education, it could create individual learning companions. AGI could also help in politics and business to make more informed and objective decisions.
Are we ready for AGI?
The ethical, social, and political questions are immense. Who controls such a powerful technology? How do we prevent abuse? And what does AGI mean for the labor market and for our self-perception as a species?
A transparent, interdisciplinary debate is urgently needed. AGI is no longer science fiction, but a realistic future scenario. How we shape it will be decisive for our coexistence.
It is already worthwhile for companies, educational institutions, and organizations to engage with AGI today. At LEADING MINDS, you will find experts and speakers who present this topic in an understandable and inspiring way – for lectures, workshops, or discussion formats.
