Anja Wehler-Schöck

As a leading analyst of international politics at the Tagesspiegel editorial office, Anja Wehler-Schöck sheds light on the power shifts between Washington, Brussels, and the Middle East, linking issues of international cooperation, democracy, and media issues, and explaining the consequences for the world order.

Anja Wehler-Schöck has been a member of the Tagesspiegel editorial board since 2025. She regularly comments on global trends and current developments in international politics in the media and at high-level conferences. Every Friday, she writes about the most important international topics of the week in her LinkedIn newsletter “Thank God It’s International Friday.”

In 2022, she established the new International Politics department at Der Tagesspiegel, which she has headed ever since. Prior to that, she was editor-in-chief of IPG Journal, a debate platform for issues of international and European politics.

Earlier jobs took her to Washington, where she worked as a social affairs officer at the German Embassy during the first Trump administration, and to the Middle East, where she ran the Friedrich Ebert Foundation’s office from 2012 to 2017.

From 2005 to 2007, she was a lecturer at Freie Universität Berlin. She completed her studies in political science with a dual German-French degree from Sciences Po Paris (France) and Freie Universität Berlin.
