Ansgar Baums

Ansgar Baums is an expert at the intersection of geopolitics, technology, and business and currently serves as a Senior Advisor at Sinolytics, where he advises companies on strategic matters.

He is also a non-residential Senior Fellow at the renowned Stimson Center and was the 2023 Helmut Schmidt Fellow at the German Marshall Fund. Additionally, he supports the public affairs agency SUB Erste Lesung as a Senior Advisor.

Prior to his current role, Ansgar Baums was responsible for government relations at Zoom Video Communications. Before that, he held various leadership positions in the corporate world, most recently as Head of the Global Strategy Program at HP and as Head of Government Relations for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. His career has also included roles at SAP AG, the German IT and telecommunications association Bitkom, and Germany’s Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

Ansgar Baums holds a master’s degree with distinction in International Strategy and Economics from the University of St. Andrews and a postgraduate diploma in Political Science from the Free University of Berlin.
